A visit from friends

My best friend came and visited us this past weekend. We both have been so busy with life, we hadn't spent real time, I mean, longer then a few hours together, in years. We had a wonderful time. We hit most of the antique stores in Jefferson City, some of our favorite local restaurants and even the Capitol. Time went way too fast but we packed a lot into the weekend. I can't wait to see her again!

I have a dream!

I have a dream of a day when everyone can get along. I wish there were no cancer, no heart disease and kidney failure. There were no drugs just people getting high on life. No mental illness, addictions and no developmental disabilities. No kids in foster care, no child or animal abuse. That is my dream. What is yours?

Heaven gained a new angel

My grandma passed away yesterday, she was 100 years old, going to be 101 next month. My grandma was probably one of the funniest people I have ever known. She was the only grandma I have ever known. My dad's mother died before my parents were married so I was truly blessed to have my grandma as long as I did. Rest in peace, Grammy! See you again some day!

A bitter cold morning

Yesterday the temperatures were in the 30s but started dropping through the afternoon. Today they are in the single digits but the dogs and I still wanted to walk. Not a very long walk but some fresh air and sunshine,

More snow photos

Just a few more photos of the snow today around the capitol. There's a little snowman in front of the capitol,

It's beginning to look a lot like....

Winter! It has been unusually warm so far this winter. In Dec we had temperatures in the 50's and even 60's. But this morning I woke up to a blanket of white. I love snow! I love to play in it and take walks in it. It is so peaceful! My grandson has been sick but he wanted to go out so bad, how could I say no!The dogs are loving the snow too!

An expensive day!

Today my husband went to start the suburban and it was dead as a doorknob. He put the charger on it and a light popped on the charger, the battery had issues. Or something like that, those are my words. We were going take take the boys, to get their vaccinations today and thought we'd take the suburban, not happening. So we end up having to pull the battery, load the boys in the Furnado, as my son calls our pickup, because of all the dog fur in it, and into town we went.
First we weigh the boys. Dudley was 45 lbs. Rascal 43 and Jake was 50 lbs! So the vet recommends a diet, especially for Dudley being he's going to be 9 years old this year. next he listens to the dogs hearts and takes their heart rates. Dudley's heart rate is like 130, he's a little excited. Rascal a cool 110. Jake, who was ready to have a nervous breakdown, a whopping 170! All he did was cry, the entire time we were there but he is our pound puppy so he thinks he's going back to the pound. He was a two time loser when we rescued him. Two different people didn't want him. He does have some quirks but he's pretty good for the most part. Then on to get a battery for the truck. OMG, those things have gotten ridiculously expensive! Between the vet and the battery, we spent a small fortune! And I recovered my sewing chair, I bought this past Fall. I noticed I put the fabric on the wrong way but I don't mind. It's my chair and I think it looks really cute!
Rascal, Dudley and Jake, still whimpering, looking out the window,

The days are getting longer

It might only be a minute or so a day but the days are getting longer. I remember walking out of work on Dec 21st and it was almost dark at 5. Tonight there was a little light left at 5:30 and the temperatures have been in the 40's today. Not too shabby for January! I snapped a couple photos of the Missouri River for a photo contest, I thought I'd share them. I love this time of the day, when the light has yellows, pinks and purples in it.

goodbye 2015

As we say goodbye to 2015 and welcome in the new year, I want to try and set some goals for myself, I gained weight in 2015. In 2016 I want to take some off. In 2015, I quit going to the gym. In 2016 I want to get back into the habit of going. In 2015 I only went camping once! In 2016, I will camp more, hike more, ride my bike and swim more! I want to change my life style and try to get healthier. That is my plan for 2016. Happy New Year!
