Quilt for a friend

I have good intentions but I get sidetracked easily. I told my friend, a long time ago, I'd make her kids a lap quilt to share. I finally got it done and took it to be quilted along with my mother's lap quilt. It's mostly 30's fabrics and a few odds and ends I had.
Central Missouri is finally getting some much needed rain thanks to Isaac. My husband and I had to make a drive to Columbia this morning. Some of that rain was heavy but neither one of us complained.
Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Labor Day Weekend.

Long Branch State Park 2012

We just got home from Long Branch State Park in Macon, MO. I had a really nice time. Very nice hosts, clean shower houses, and nice lake. My husband and I both enjoyed this park and will make this an annual trip.

Missouri State Fair 2012

We had perfect weather for the state fair. Yesterday was in the 70's and overcast. Not typical for Missouri August weather. I love going to the state fair to see all the 4H and FFA projects, campers for sale, photo contest, livestock and funnel cakes. My husband and I made sure to get one this year, we didn't last year. This year we watched dog obedience. The kids did a great job with their dogs. One chocolate Lab didn't stay as long as they asked but they all did a great job with their dogs. Way to go girls!

Finished the top

I need find backing and then off it goes to be quilted. I'm glad I got this done in plenty of time for my mom's birthday in Oct.

TGIF

A cold front has moved through and has ushered in cooler temps. It was in the 60's this morning when I went out to check on my peppers. I knew one was ready to pick. I'm so excited I finally got a yummy red pepper this summer. The cool breeze felt great! The dogs and I took a nice walk. I hope it stays cool so I don't melt when we go to the State Fair. My husband played golf today or we would have went.

And I'm almost done with my mom's lap quilt. I have to add the outer border and then figure out what to do for backing.

First 3 rows

Here are the first 3 rows of my mom's lap quilt. I need to make a couple more blocks of the dark blocks. Somehow I didn't make as many as I needed.
Pinky likes the lap quilt so far.
