Daughter's Quilt

I started working on this quilt years ago, it's the Hens and Chicks pattern. I think I started on this before my grandson was born or shortly after, I stopped working on it for some time but not long ago my daughter asked me when I was going to finish it. I think it turned out really nice. I picked up blue fat quarters everywhere I went to make sure all the blues were different. She slept with it last night. :)

Sunny January Day

Today is my best friend's, the one who just got married, birthday. What a pretty day it is, I hope it's as sunny in Joplin as it is here today.Today;s high will be in the 30's, a heatwave compared to what we have had lately.
I had to get my zoom out after I saw a brilliant red cardinal in the tree. Unfortunately, he didn't come back but I got a couple other birds and my boys.

A wedding

I drove to my hometown of Joplin, MO to see my best friend get married yesterday. She made a beautiful bride and I loved seeing her family. It was a beautiful ceremony and she made a gorgeous bride.

Quilt Shop

I've been working on a quilt for my best friend's wedding tomorrow. Unfortunately, it will not be ready for her wedding but when it is, I will wash it and post photos of it on my blog. However, two ladies, that were at the quilt shop where I was, were working on Twister Quilts. And one afternoon, a lady brought in a paper-pieced quilt blocks of Missouri Plains. I enjoyed them so much, I had to share photos of their work.
Love the colors on this one.

This block is an echinacea flower.

Happy New Year!!

Well, here we are in 2015. I spent New Years day with my inlaws playing Bingo at the Elks Club. One of my sister in laws won some money but that's all of our group. We still had a good time. I hope 2015 will be the best year for everyone so far.

Pillowcase craze

I wanted to make everyone a mugrug for Christmas. I have a bunch appliqued but not finished. I wasn't sure if I would quilt them or not. And binding; well I'm horrible at binding. So I made pillowcases for my sewing gift this year. I have a few more to make but here is what I have so far.

Getting close to Ho Ho Time

We had a little bit of snow earlier this week but it was gone by noon. It doesn't look like it will be a white Christmas this year. I've still got things to do like wrap gifts but I have most my baking done. I'm going to see my sister Monday. I'm going to pick her up and then we will go get our 99 year old grandma. Yes, 99. She will be 100 in Feb. I am blessed to have a grandma still. And she loves sweets! I've made snicker doodles and sugar cookies. She'll love them.
